Se ha hablado mucho de las nuevas características técnicas de las nuevas consolas de Sony y Microsoft que, según lo planeado, se lanzarían al mercado este año. Pero una de las más mencionadas es el almacenamiento SSD, la cual permitirá una fluidez y velocidad de carga superior a cualquiera de las consolas de PlayStation y Xbox anteriores.
De hecho, el mismo Mark Cerny en la conferencia de casi una hora que brindó sobre las especificaciones técnicas de PS5, mencionó que esta tecnología es tan efectiva que los jugadores no tendrán que soportar tiempos muertos como los 30 segundos que tarda un personaje subiendo en ascensor. Y otro que ha elogiado el almacenamiento SSD de esta nueva generación es el cocreador de ‘Halo’, Marcus Lehto.
Marcará una gran diferencia. Abrirá las puertas a contenido más amplio que puede cargarse mucho más rápido. Los jugadores no tendrán que esperar pantallas de carga y no tendremos que ocultar las cargas detrás de cinemáticas y ese tipo de cosas (…) Los usuarios de esas consolas verán las cosas con muchas menos interrupciones y más fluidas, pero las nuevas máquinas también ayudarán a los creadores. Estoy realmente emocionado porque esa es una de las cosas que es realmente dura para nosotros ahora mismo: relacionarnos con estas antiguas plataformas.

Lehto sabe bien de lo que habla, pues trabajó en la trilogía original de ‘Halo’, ‘Halo Reach’ y ‘Halo 3: ODST’; y ahora se encuentra promocionando su título ‘Disintegration’, un shooter futurista con elementos de estrategia en tiempo real que tendrá su estreno este mismo año para PC, PS4 y Xbox One.
