El año pasado se anunció PlayStation Productions, una de las marcas derivadas de Sony que se encargaría de producir series y películas basadas en juegos de PlayStation. Uno de los principales proyectos que se anunció como parte de esta nueva entidad fue ‘Uncharted’ protagonizada por Tom Holland y Mark Wahlberg.
Ahora, por medio de Media Post, se ha dado a conocer que PlayStation Productions está trabajando a toda máquina y ya se están desarrollando 10 producciones, de estas 7 son series y 3 largometrajes. Así lo confirmó el presidente y director ejecutivo de Sony Pictures, Tony Vinciquerra, quien también se refirió a si seguirían un modelo híbrido de lanzamiento en cine y TV como lo está manejando Warner Media.
Aún no tenemos un plan específico. Pero tenemos un programa dentro de la empresa llamado One Sony… Verá mucha más integración de las empresas Sony juntas (…) No creo que estemos en el negocio del lanzamiento del día y la fecha, no. Creo que el modelo económico para películas de muy gran presupuesto requiere las ventanas que están en el flujo ahora y continuaremos con eso… Creemos que las ventanas de 30 días son probablemente las mejores, nos permitirá amortizar nuestro marketing sobre las dos ventanas – cine y entretenimiento en casa – así que creemos que es el camino a seguir.

Los estudios centrales de PlayStation Productions se encuentran en Culver City y desde 2019 se informó que ya estaban trabajando en «su primer lote de proyectos». De estas 10 producciones que mencionamos se desconoce si ya se están incluyendo ‘Uncharted-Movie’ y ‘The Last of Us’ para HBO.
