Fotografías del set canadiense de The Boys, de Amazon Prime, han estado circulando por internet. Estas muestran al centro de convenciones de Toronto convertido en un cine para presentar la película Dawn of the seven (una parodia de Batman v. Superman en la serie), la cual vemos producirse en la segunda temporada. En la escena que se está grabando en las imágenes aparece Soldier Boy, un personaje similar a Captain America y que será interpretado por Jensen Ackles, actor reconocido por Supernatural. Este es el primer vistazo que tenemos de este personaje en su traje.
De acuerdo a un reporte de Variety la serie será una especie de reunión de creadores y escritores de Supernatural. Además de Eric Kripke, creador tanto de Supernatural como de The Boys, esta temporada también contara con Meredith Glynn, David Reed y Jim Michaels, los cuales fueron productores o escritores de la serie sobre los hermanos cazadores de demonios.
Sobre Soldier Boy, Kripke ha mencionado que es el Homelander original y que va a ser incluso peor que Homelander. Será una versión distinta a la de los comics y es posible que veamos a ambos enfrentarse en la tercera temporada.
Anthony Starr, el actor de Homelander también ha compartido algunas imágenes de la grabación.
Kripke también afirma, «vamos a hablar realmente sobre la historia de Vought porque es como John Wayne: es uno de esos tipos que ha existido durante décadas en la historia de Vought. Y fue Homelander antes que Homelander, así que él es de una época diferente, pero tiene el ego y la ambición, simplemente se ve de una manera diferente porque es de una época diferente».
Aún no queda claro si Soldier Boy tendrá la misma visión de derecha neo-nazi de Vought o Stormfront, o por qué se ha mantenido en un perfil bajo por tanto tiempo. Kripke también ha afirmado en entrevistas que cree que cualquiera que espere ver el personaje de Jensen y que sea un buen tipo se sentirá decepcionado, lo cual tratándose de The Boys, no nos sorprende en lo más mínimo.
Soldier Boy fue el modelo de Homelander, y los intentos de Vought de mejorar el original dieron como resultado un monstruo narcisista. A Soldier Boy le inyectaron el Compuesto V cuando ya era un poco mayor por lo que a diferencia de Homelander, se podría considerar que tuvo una infancia más normal y no dentro de un laboratorio. Mientras que Homelander siempre busca aprobación y validación, según el director, podríamos esperar que Soldier Boy sea un hombre confiado y seguro en sí mismo.
