La llegada del Switch generó muchos rumores sobre una posible jubilación del 3DS, sin embargo, Nintendo ha reiterado, en varias ocasiones, que continuará con el soporte para dicha consola más allá del 2018, pero al parecer no se referían a todos los modelos.
Así es, la “Gran N” anunció que cesó la producción de New 3DS en Japón, por lo que la familia se ve reducida al 2DS, New 2DS XL y New 3DS XL. Por el momento no existe versión al respecto que aplique para el mercado Occidental.
Casualidad o no, la noticia se confirmó el mismo día que el New 2DS XL llegó al mercado japonés, y dos semanas antes de que aparezca en Estados Unidos y Europa (28 de julio). Una de las principales diferencias, más allá del efecto, es su precio ($150).
Cabe destacar que, de ninguna manera, podría visualizarse como que eliminarán a la consola portátil por completo, pero sí como una restructuración de prioridades, y en gran parte gracias al éxito que ha protagonizado el Switch en todo el mundo.
