Curiosamente, tras un gran rato sin noticias de esta serie, Netflix decidió soltar toda la pirotecnia en cosa de un par de meses. Siguiendo a los dos primeros teasers, finalmente tenemos un trailer completo de la primera temporada de Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, serie que los seguidores de los libros esperamos que haga justicia a la historia original y logre adaptarla por completo.

Según sabemos, la temporada abarcará los cuatro primeros libros y, precisamente, el avance nos da elementos de todos ellos. Vemos a personajes como la Jueza Strauss, el tío Monty y la tía Josephine, así como a la oculista que trata a Klaus en el cuarto libro. Asimismo, vemos diversos escenarios como la playa donde inicia todo, la mansión del Conde, el laberinto de Monty y la casa del acantilado de Josephine.

En cuanto a la estética, ciertos ambientes me recuerdan mucho a los de Tim Burton en Edward Scissorhands, con esa apariencia de pueblito de juguete. Además, me encanta cómo algunos lugares lucen intencionalmente artificiosos, como la playa del principio, tan gris que da la impresión de estar cubierta de ceniza volcánica o algo parecido. Aunque en algún momento esta «artificiosidad» me pareció excesiva, la verdad es que le va bien a la historia y podría funcionar.

Los personajes son mostrados con más detalle en esta ocasión; reitero mi preocupación por Sunny: su apariencia caricaturesca contrasta un poco con la de sus hermanos, mucho más realista. Además, no hay un solo momento en que se vea hablar a la bebé, cosa que la caracteriza en el material de origen y que resulta de lo más divertido; espero que no se trate de que obviaron ese detalle. En cuanto a Violet y Klaus, esta vez lucen más de un atuendo y confirman lo que opiné en el teaser anterior: mientras que Klaus se ve muy acertado, la ropa de Violet se ve muy colorida por momentos.

Una vez más, Neil Patrick Harris se roba el show con su Conde Olaf. Ya sea como Stephano, el Capitán Sham o en un interesante y muy bien logrado disfraz de mujer, el personaje se ve perfectamente interpretado. Me gustan su voz, su apariencia, su sarcasmo… mi única ligera queja es con respecto a su humor, pues sentí un poco forzadas ciertas bromas, como la del reloj de arena que compró «on-line«. Con todo, me parece que la interpretación está para, cuando menos, igualar la de Jim Carrey.
