El director neoyorquino Ari Aster no ha defraudado a la crítica todavía, su primer «drama familiar» (como él lo ha catalogado), ‘Hereditary’, lo colocó en la mira del mundo como un nuevo y prometedor director de terror psicológico (aunque, de nuevo, él dice que no era terror); y luego confirmó tal status con ‘Midsommar’.
Su incursión en el subgénero folk horror provocó que la audiencia quedara con más ganas de saber a qué se atreverá a continuación, pues se ve que las historias que tiene en su cabeza no son nada convencionales. Y ya tenemos la respuesta, Ari Aster dirigirá una comedia de terror.
Ya en 2019 en una ronda de preguntas y respuestas, el director había adelantado en Reddit que su próxima película iba a ser «o una comedia pesadillesca algo excesiva y extraña, o un enfermizo melodrama doméstico»; vemos entonces como por fin se decidió por la primera opción.
Lo más llamativo de esta noticia es que Aster ya definió la duración de su nuevo filme, será de 4 horas, algo que claramente es un movimiento un tanto arriesgado, tomando en cuenta que algunos de los que vieron ‘Midsommar’ se quejaron de su larga duración (y eso que fueron 3 horas).
