Scott Snyder con su nueva historia Metal nos trae una oleada de nuevos villanos, 7 para ser exactos y hoy les hablaremos de Batman, The Devastator.
Batman siempre ha desconfiado de Superman, razón por la cual entre sus artilugios siempre lleva kryptonita y posee cientos de planes para acabar con este «Boy Scout» en el momento que el lado oscuro de Sups decida salir a la luz.
Esto se le concede en Batman, The Devastator. Todo empieza en Tierra -1, donde la batalla de Batman contra Superman se lleva a cabo, esto debido a que Batman tenía razón: Superman no es el ente bondadoso que todos creen que es, su poder lo corrompe trayendo con esto la destrucción del mundo, la pérdida de los seres queridos y de la confianza en el que una vez fue su salvador.
En el momento que Batman se dispone a atravesar a Superman con su lanza de punta de kryptonita, este pierde su brazo debido a la vision laser del kryptoniano. Batman no se da por vencido y muestra su plan B, un plan en el cual ha logrado mutar su ADN integrando el ADN de Doomsday, creando así a Devastator, un ser con la fuerza y fortaleza de Doomsday, pero con la inteligencia y los conocimientos de Batman.
A pesar de ganar la batalla, muchos perecieron en esta guerra, por lo que Devastator comienza su viaje interdimensional a Tierra -0, en la cual la gente aún cree en Superman.
En esta vemos a Luisa Lane toparse con Bruce, y este mostrando su nueva forma le advierte del problema que puede llegar a ser Superman, el problema es que no sólo Batman ha mutado, si no que logra que los demás muten en esta aberración, para que así todos estén preparados para cuando Sup decida mostrar su realidad.
El cómic termina con un Jason encarcelado quien observa como su madre muta por este nuevo virus. Mientras tanto, el Batman que ríe se le presenta a Devastator diciéndole que a pesar de que eliminó la presencia de Superman en el mundo negativo, aún hay un universo entero, una nueva dimensión donde la gente aún cree en Superman, por lo que Devastator pide que lo lleven ahí para así continuar con su plan.
Este one shot, nos demuestra hasta donde puede llegar el odio que maneja Batman hacia Superman, que para algunos no es odio si no desconfianza, pero aceptemos que Batman desconfía hasta de su propia Bat Family.
The Devastator es un número crudo, donde vemos la muerte de varios personajes íconos de la saga de Superman, que nos muestra que a pesar de que las intenciones de Batman son las de eliminar una futura amenaza, el daño colateral que esto produce sin que él se de cuenta son enormes y afectan a todos los que lo rodean.
