Dan Mora ha sido nominado a los Premios Eisner 2017 como Mejor Dibujante

Este 2 de mayo se publicaron los nominados a los Eisner Awards 2017, galardones que premian lo mejor de la industria de los cómics.

Por segundo año consecutivo el ilustrador costarricense Dan Mora ha sido nominado por su trabajo en Klaus, de BOOM! Studios.

El año pasado tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistarlo durante el Comic-Con de San Diego, la convención en la que se entregan estos premios, después de que recibiera el Russ Manning Award for Promising Newcomer, el premio a mejor nueva promesa de la industria.

Este año su nominación es en la categoría de «Best Penciller/Inker», mejor dibujante/entintador. En la misma categoría se encuentran Mark Brooks por su trabajo en Han Solo (Marvel), Greg Ruth, por Indeh (Grand Central Publishing), Francois Schuiten, por The Theory of the Grain of Sand (IDW), Fiona Staples, por Saga (Image) y Brian Stelfreeze, por Black Panther (Marvel).

Dan dice sentirse muy feliz con la nominación: «Me escribió mi editor en BOOM felicitándome y luego vi algo en Twitter. Me invitaron de nuevo a San Diego. Este año voy con la familia, con mi bebé de dos meses», afirmó el ilustrador.

Klaus, ilustrado por Dan Mora y escrito por Grant Morrison, es la historia del mito de Santa Claus, desde sus orígenes en la tradición vikinga y el chamanismo siberiano, tomando el lado más espeluznante de la Navidad, y personajes siniestros como Krampus. Es algo así como un «Santa Claus: Year One». Por el momento se han publicado 7 issues y el libro Klaus: Pen & Ink, que incluye los números 1 y 2 de la serie en una edición de colección con comentarios de los creadores.

Mora también ha trabajado como dibujante y entintador en Hexed y los cómics de la WWE (en el que también es ilustrador el costarricense Serg Acuña), y como artista de covers y variantes de covers para Daredevil (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy: Mother Entropy (2017), Hulk (2017), Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern (2017), Secret Empire (2017), Venom (2017), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (2017), Batgirl (2017) y Titans (2017). Además, en su nuevo proyecto con BOOM! está ilustrando la serie Go Go Powers Rangers, que contará la historia de los jóvenes en su etapa adolescente después de que obtienen sus poderes.

Desde ya le deseamos el mayor de los éxitos a Dan y esperamos que resulte ganador y que este sea el segundo de muchos galardones en su carrera.
