En mi vida he jugado muchos títulos de construcción de ciudades y manejo de los recursos, y en Endzone encontré un desafío casi tan complicado como en el mismo Frostpunk, que me castiga por cualquier mala decisión, que pasa la factura poco tiempo después de haber dejado de prestar atención a los detalles importantes.

Lo frustrante es echar todo a perder por una tontería tras cuatro o cinco horas de esfuerzo. Es lamentable ver como los ciudadanos de mi pueblo perecen uno a uno por el hambre, la sed, o alguna enfermedad causada por la radiación que abunda en el mundo post-apocalíptico creado por Gentlymad Studios. Pero de eso se trata Endzone, de tomar nota de cada error, y corregirlo en la siguiente partida.

De hecho estos tres aspectos son el pilar de nuestra sociedad. Suplirlas es la prioridad, que de hecho será nuestra lucha constante durante cada una de las partidas. Al inicio, mientras aprendemos a crear ciudadelas más eficientes en lo que respecta a logística, vamos a perder partidas a menudo, pero cada golpe trae experiencia que nos sirve para hacer un pueblo más eficaz en cada nueva partida.

Endzone – The Couch

Cuando el juego comienza tenemos solamente una pequeña zona central, que contiene los recursos necesarios para empezar. A partir de ahí, debemos edificar distintos tipos de estructuras, para el agua están los cisternas, las fuentes, o los pequeños puentes sobre lagos que sirven para que los colonos recojan agua, siempre hay que optar por tener mucha agua en caso de sequía. Por otro lado, las torres de caza o de recolección de frutos sirven para recolectar comida, este último es igual de vital que el H2O.

Lo tedioso de todo esto es lo difícil que se vuelve conseguirlos cuando tenemos muchos habitantes en nuestra ciudad, llegando a la cantidad de los 60+ el asunto se pone cuesta arriba, pues con el tiempo las herramientas de trabajo se gastan, y debemos crear nuevas en el edificio de Forja, pero claro, estas requieren recursos materiales y humanos importantes. De la misma manera, las ropas anti-radiación se desgastan, las cuales de la misma forma requieren tiempo humano y recursos.

Y es que los trabajadores siempre van a ser escasos, muy pocas veces (o casi nunca en mi experiencia) vamos a poder llenar cada espacio de laburo debido a que simplemente el juego te lo pone cuesta arriba para que te cueste sobrevivir. Vamos a tener que estar cambiando mucho a los colonos de una actividad a otra, un ejemplo es cuando llega una temporada de sequía, donde los cultivos, el suelo, y los lagos se secan, por lo que los granjeros, pescadores o recolectores son inútiles, entonces nos toca ponerlos a realizar otros trabajos como buscar chatarra, mandarlos a cazar, o cualquier otra actividad necesaria.

Endzone – The Couch

Conforme van pasando las ‘temporadas’, la comunidad crece, los recursos escasean, y llega la enfermedad, hambruna, y la muerte. Lo más que pude fue llegar a la temporada 41, solo para ver a mis pobladores morir de una enfermedad por la falta de protección para la radiación (que por alguna razón no era manufacturada a pesar de tener cuatro sastres trabajando con muchos materiales).

Endzone – A World Apart es un excelente juego, lo que nosotros probamos fue una beta cerrada, pero sentimos que va por un gran camino, me gusta mucho las penurias por las que hay que pasar, es desesperante ver que tienes todo bien durante un tiempo, y de repente, todo se va al carajo, de la nada, sin más, en el transcurso de 30 minutos todo puede cambiar de forma irreversible, y aunque no queda otra que aceptar la falta de una gestión correcta, no dejo de pensar que hay cosas técnicas que quizá no están funcionando en el juego, pero prefiero pensar que es mi culpa, y que debo ir aprendiendo poco a poco a hacer las cosas mejor.
