Se ha confirmado, luego de algunas especulaciones, que efectivamente Nintendo ha sido blanco de ataques cibernéticos en los últimos días. La compañía verificó la información de que piratas informáticos han tenido acceso a algunas cuentas y ha atribuido el problema a un método de inicio de sesión de Nintendo Network ID.
La principal violación de información se ha dado por medio de las identificaciones de red de Nintendo (NNID), de las cuales los hackers han logrado obtener usuarios y contraseñas para realizar compras a su nombre. Se estima que la cantidad de cuentas afectadas son 160 000 en total.
Los NNID fueron un sistema de inicio de sesión creado específicamente para 3DS y Wii U y también se pueden usar como método alternativo para iniciar sesión en Nintendo Switch. La compañía recomienda a los usuarios estar en constante vigilancia de su historial de compras para verificar que no aparezca alguna irregularidad.
En caso de que noten una compra que no hicieron, se les recomienda a los usuarios que soliciten cancelar la compra de inmediato y Nintendo intentará solventar el problema lo antes posible. La situación todavía se encuentra bajo investigación y esto seguirá en los próximos días.
