Existen ocasiones en que me encuentro aburrido y no sé qué hacer con el poco tiempo libre que tengo. En ocasiones los videojuegos se sienten como una obligación más que un disfrute, en cable no pasan las mejores películas y Netflix funciona de forma tan clara que probablemente ya sé qué me va a recomendar y eso no me motiva. Sin embargo, por azar del destino (y vaya que el azar tiene todo que ver con este anime) me vi sumergido en el emocionante mundo de los juegos de azar con Kakegurui una nueva apuesta de Netflix en donde los casinos quedan como cosa de niños y en donde la premisa es sencilla: jugar hasta desbordar del placer.
Desde que el negocio del video por demanda se movió al stream, Netflix ha sido el rey. En un inicio lo era por la facilidad y el contenido de terceros que tenía disponible, ahora cuando la plataforma va madurando y espera llegar a un punto de estabilidad, los que quedamos permanecemos por la gran cantidad de contenido original que ha ido realizando. Esto sin embargo sería un esfuerzo fútil si la plataforma no definiera nichos específicos a los que atacar, es por esta razón que la compañía ha decidido entrar con todo a la producción de anime y Kakegurui es resultado de esta movida y la verdad, les quedó muy bien.
Kakegurui es la historia de un instituto como cualquier otro, la gente va a clases, hay diferentes grupos y estudiantes. Hasta aquí todo muy normal, pero, el gran detalle es que en la Academia Privada Hyakkaou el sistema de castas se rige a través de las apuestas. De estas últimas las hay de todo tipo, desde las típicas apuestas de cartas, los juegos naturales de un casino japonés y hasta apuestas en donde se exponen partes del cuerpo, todo ello está bien visto en este decadente mundo en donde perder o ganar es secundario, lo primordial es que la dopamina suba por apostar cosas tan importantes como la vida misma.
En los 24 episodios que dura la serie nos econtramos siempre en situaciones límite en donde su protagonista: Yumeko Jabami obtiene en la mayoría de los casos todo lo que desea. Jabami es una apostadora compulsiva que no solo ama el juego con pasión, sino también encuentra un cierto placer sexual en arriesgar todo por nada; bajo esta premisa y cometiendo lo que en principio parecieran «decisiones estúpidas» Yumeko se va ganando la confianza de varios estudiantes, entre ellos Ryota Suzui (quien es salvado en el segundo episodio por la protagonista); Mary Saotome una rubia que es a la vez coprotagonista y coestrella de Jabami y Midari Ikishima una mujer que es probablemente de los personajes más raros que haya visto en un anime.
Dicho esto, fuera de la historia y la animación hay en este anime dos puntos bajos que no puedo dejar de señalar. El primero es la música, vivimos en tiempos extraordinarios en donde consumir media es una actividad muy fácil de realizar y producir, por ello parece raro que este aspecto haya sido descuidado dentro de Kakegurui ya que ni siquiera los eventos recurrentes del género como los openings o endings tienen algún grado de memorabilidad acá, igual que toda la música que acompaña los capítulos.
El segundo punto importante y que destaca como algo negativo para mí es la cantidad de fanservice en la serie. En general esta nueva tendencia del anime de llenar todo con fanservice no la he recibido con el agrado de lo que pareciera ser la mayoría del público, esto siempre teniendo en cuenta que el anime responde a un público no necesariamente oriental y que no comparte nuestros valores. Sin embargo, no puedo dejar de rescatar esto como algo a considerar si piensan ver la serie.
Para concluir, y pese a los dos puntos negativos, no puedo dejar de rescatar Kakegurui (la primera y segunda temporadas ya están disponibles) es un anime intenso, con una temática poco común y que explora lugares poco tratados en la generalidad del media que vemos día con día.
