DC lanzó hoy el primer trailer oficial de su serie de Titans, el cual ha creado bastante polémica entre los fans gracias a las diferencias en la adaptación cada uno de sus personajes. Robin no es el Robin correcto, Raven vive en angustia perpetua, Starfire es de otro color, tiene otros poderes y una apariencia completamente distinta y nadie sabe realmente cómo está el asunto con Beast Boy. De hecho, ya desde hace días se sabía que la serie adaptaría a sus personajes para ser más realista, al punto de no permitirle a Hawk y Dove volar, a pesar de tener alas gigantes en sus trajes.
Sin embargo, puede que nada de eso importe en nuestro continente, pues el programa será exclusivo de la nueva plataforma de streaming de DC, DC Universe, y resulta que esta únicamente estará disponible en Estados Unidos por el futuro cercano. Durante el San Diego Comic-Con, la empresa de cómics reveló los primeros detalles de este servicio, y aunque suena bastante bien, Latinoamérica y el resto del mundo están de mala suerte.
Aún así, les podemos contar algunas de las características de la plataforma. En primera instancia, hay dos paquetes de pago para los que quieran suscribirse. El primero tiene un precio mensual de 7,99 dólares, básicamente lo mismo que las opciones más simples de Netflix, Hulu y Amazon Prime. No obstante, para los más fanáticos, una suscripción anual les ahorrará el costo de dos meses, para un pago total de 74,99 dólares.
Además, por el momento sabemos que el catálogo audiovisual de DC Universe incluirá Titans, la próxima temporada de Young Justice y la serie en desarrollo de Swamp Thing. Una serie animada de Harley Quinn y la serie de Doom Patrol llegarán algún tiempo después. Asimismo, filmes y series clásicas como Batman: The Animated Series, Wonder Woman ’77, Superman I-IV, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Batman Ninja, Batman Beyond (1999), la serie animada de Justice League (2001-04) y Batman: The Brave and the Bold (2008-11) estarán en línea a través de este servicio.
En cuanto a cómics, no se ha hablado de títulos específicos, pero sí se mencionó que el catálogo completo de historietas de DC no estará disponible al momento de su lanzamiento. Por el contrario, una selección curada y rotativa de miles de números podrá ser leída en un nuevo sistema. Números clásicos, primeros números, series icónicas del pasado, tramas recientes y algunas menos conocidas formarán parte de esta variedad.
La forma de leer los cómics incluye las modalidades ya conocidas de página por página y cuadro por cuadro, pero también incluirá una nueva opción de autoplay, en la que se puede solicitar que los cuadros y páginas cambien en intervalos fijos de tiempo. Así los usuarios podrán echarse atrás y leer los cómics como si fueran una serie de televisión. Además, un revolucionario sistema visual permitirá disfrutar estos títulos con una calidad 4K, para que la experiencia de revivir cómics anteriores sea una completamente nueva que nos permita ver detalles que pasamos por alto en el pasado.
Con todo esto dicho, DC ha sido muy enfático en que escuchará de cerca la retroalimentación de los fans y no niega la posibilidad de que haya cambios radicales en el futuro para mejorar la experiencia de sus usuarios. ¿Será que pronto podremos suscribirnos en otros lugares del mundo?
