Al Jean, uno de los jefes de producción y guionistas de la serie de la familia amarilla, habló con la revista Metro y se refirió al tema. Explicó que Lisa será parte de la comunidad LGBT y que, de hecho, tendrá gustos poliamorosos, en los que experimentará con hombres, mujeres e incluso podría tener más de una pareja a la vez.
Esto ya se había mostrado brevemente en los primeros minutos del episodio 23 de la temporada 9, llamado ‘Fiestas de un futuro pasado’, en el cual se presenta una secuencia de tarjetas navideñas en un transcurso de varios años y, en una de ellas, Lisa sale tomada de la mano de una chica y en otra aparece con dos chicas.
‘Los Simpson’ siempre se han caracterizado por irse adaptando a la actualidad y por ser pioneros en tocar temas tabú que no se tocan con facilidad en muchas series. De hecho, desde los inicios de la serie se mostraron otros personajes pertenecientes a la comunidad LGBT, como es el caso de la tía Patty, Smithers y Javier (del episodio ‘Homero Fobia’).
