La cadena CBS recién anunció la producción de una nueva serie de la franquicia de Star Trek. Primero estará disponible en la plataforma de streaming CBS All Access, el sistema de suscripción del canal, y posteriormente en televisión y otras plataformas.
La serie tendrá nuevos personajes buscando nuevos mundos y civilizaciones, pero manteniendo los temas que han sido característicos de la franquicia a lo largo de los años. La producción ejecutiva estará a cargo de Heather Kadin y Alex Kurtzman, que co-escribió los guiones de las últimas adaptaciones cinematográficas, Star Trek (2009) y Star Trek Into Darkness (2013).
Después del éxito de la serie original, Star Trek tiene una docena de películas y cinco series de televisión, así como adaptaciones al cómic y video juegos. El próximo año celebrarán los 50 años de la franquicia. En el 2016 también saldrá la película Star Trek Beyond, sin embargo la historia de la nueva serie no estará relacionada.
Esta será la primer serie de televisión desde Enterprise (2001 – 2005), la serie precuela de la original. Después de que esta fuera cancelada, termino un período de 18 años continuos de series de Star Trek desde The Next Generation (1987), incluyendo Deep Space Nine y Voyayer.
Esperemos que esta nueva serie sea el comienzo de una nueva generación de series por 18 años más. Después de esta gran noticia, es un buen momento para hacer maratón y ver todas las series y películas mientras esperamos el 2017.
