Parece que finalmente los tormentosos y absurdos consumos de memoria RAM por parte del navegador de Google, Chrome, llegarán a su final. Esto gracias a una mejora que viene con la nueva actualización de Chrome ya disponible, que va a congelar las pestañas que no estemos utilizando.
Tras el fallido intento de 2015 donde Google introdujo el descarte de pestañas como una forma de reducir la cantidad de RAM utilizada por el navegador (solo las suspende cuando la memoria del sistema se está agotando), esta parece ser la acción definitiva para frenar el consumo exagerado de memoria.
Este nueva característica se llama Tab Freezing (congelamiento de pestana), la cual tras 5 minutos de inactividad de un tab, la pestaña se congela, y la página web no podrá usar la CPU ni realizar acciones en segundo plano. Por ejemplo, supongamos que tenemos una página web abierta, y la misma está ejecutando continuamente comandos o scripts -usando memoria/CPU. Después de un tiempo, Chrome lo «congelará» automáticamente y evitará que realice acciones hasta que interactuemos con el tab nuevamente.
