Warner Bros. anunció ayer mediante New Line que su película basada en el personaje de Captain Marvel (el de DC, no la de Marvel) ya ha iniciado su etapa de producción. El filme está siendo dirigido por David F. Sandberg y tiene como protagonistas a Zachary Levi como Shazam, Asher Angel como su alter ego Billy Batson y Mark Strong en el papel del villano, el Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. El productor Peter Safran, cuya trayectoria lo ha llevado a trabajar en El Conjuro y Anabelle, está a cargo de esta película y de la de Aquaman.

«Todos tenemos un superhéroe dentro de nosotros, solo toma un poco de magia para sacarlo a la luz. En el caso de Billy Batson (Angel), gritando una palabra –¡Shazam!– este astuto chicho adoptado de 14 años puede transformarse en el superhéroe adulto Shazam (Levi), cortesía de un antiguo mago. Todavía un niño en su corazón –dentro de un cuerpo musculoso y cuasi divino– Shazam se rebela en esta versión adulta de sí mismo, haciendo lo que cualquier adolescente haría con superpoderes: ¡divertirse con ellos! ¿Puede volar? ¿Tiene visión de rayos X? ¿Puede lanzar rayos de sus manos? ¿Puede saltarse su examen de estudios sociales?
