Las noticias en torno a ‘Joker’ han sido algo difusas, se aseguran algunas y luego se desmienten… y luego se vuelven a asegurar. Ejemplo de esto es una entrevista que brindó el director de la película en solitario del príncipe payaso del crimen, Todd Phillips, para IGN UK. Ahí el cineasta habló de otros proyectos que propuso en Warner.
Primero se había afirmado que Phillips estaría planeando otras películas de origen para personajes de DC, luego él mismo dijo que aún no había nada oficial y ahora revela que efectivamente presentó a Warner dos proyectos más aparte de ‘Joker’, los cuales formarían parte de la colección Black Label de DC.
Lo presenté como tres películas, Joker fue la primera conmigo, y luego estas otras dos películas, con otros dos directores. Pero realmente no quiero nombrarlas, porque entonces se convertirá en algo que atraerá la atención de estos directores cuando ni siquiera les he contado al respecto. Solo fui yo quien le contó a Warner Bros.

El director también mencionó en la misma entrevista que en realidad cree que esos otros proyectos serían grandiosos y que podrían tener el mismo o hasta mayor éxito de lo que ha tenido la película protagonizada por Joaquin Phoenix, sin embargo, nos ha dejado a todos con la gran incógnita: ¿a cuáles personajes se refería? Por el momento, la secuela de Joker tampoco se ha confirmado de manera oficial.
