En 1996 una de las películas que más impresionó a la audiencia fue ‘Twister’, del director holandés Jan de Bont. De hecho, aún se transmite la película con mucha frecuencia en canales de televisión por cable, pues no solo cuenta con una historia entretenida, sino que también sobresalen buenas actuaciones como las de Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton y Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Pero particularmente el filme resaltó por sus excelentes efectos visuales, bastante realistas para la época en la que fue grabada. De hecho sus VFX fueron tan innovadores que el tema central de la película se incorporó, en su momento, a la gira de Universal Studios en su parque temático de Florida.
Era solo cuestión de tiempo para que a alguien se le ocurriera continuar con el legado de ‘Twister’, pues ahora tendrá un reinicio que estará a cargo de Joseph Kosinski, mismo director de ‘Tron: Legacy’, ‘Oblivion’ y ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. Por el momento no hay más detalles sobre otros miembros del equipo de producción.
En un principio se consideró una secuela, pero eso no logró sostenerse porque algunos de los personajes más importantes de la película original fueron interpretados por Paxton y Hoffman, ambos lamentablemente ya fallecidos.
