Avi Arad y Atlas Entertainment Production habían confirmado el desarrollo de una película acerca de las aventuras de Nathan Drake en la saga de videojuego de Naughty Dog y Sony, ‘Uncharted’. Sin embargo, desde el principio comenzaron los problemas, pues el director escogido, Shawn Levy, dejó el proyecto.
Levy se marchó para encargarse de otra película (‘Free Guy’), entonces fue cuando comenzaron a sonar reconocidos nombres como David O. Russel y Seth Gordon para sustituirlo, sin embargo, al final el joven cineasta Dan Trachtenberg, quien sorprendió con la película ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ (producida por J. J. Abrahams), fue la elección definitiva.
Tom Holland sigue siendo la primera opción para interpretar a un Nate con apariencia juvenil, ya que la película será una especie de precuela que narra las primeras aventuras del explorador.
Trachtenberg se ha encargado de importantes propuestas audiovisuales como el primer episodio de ‘Amazon The Boys’ o el episodio ‘Playtest’ de ‘Black Mirror’. Además de largometrajes como ‘Portal: No Escape’ y ‘More Than You Can Chew’.
