La trama toma lugar 15 años después de la primera cinta, que narra la historia de la princesa de cuento de hadas Giselle cuando es desterrada de su reino de Andalasia a Manhattan, Nueva York. Disenchanted nos devuelve al mundo de Giselle y su abogado de divorcios, Robert, cuya hija Morgan es ahora una adolescente. Mientras Giselle y su familia se mudan al suburbio de Monroeville, ella debe enfrentar los desafíos de un nuevo hogar y redescubrir el verdadero significado de ser «felices para siempre».
Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel y James Marsden volverán a interpretar sus papeles de la primera película.
