Los rumores habían ido creciendo más y más, ya que se suponía que la serie más bien estaba dejando número negativos en Fox, pero al parecer la cadena aún está interesada en mantenerlos al aire. Claro, habrá que ver lo que pasa cuando ya Disney tome control de forma más directa dentro de Fox, aunque quizá cuando esto suceda, ya Los Simpson hayan definitivamente abandonado la pantalla chica.
Sería muy extraño si Disney decide mantener la serie animada en sus filas, ya que el humor y el tipo de crítica que acostumbran Matt Groening y los suyos, no calza para nada con el tono familiar y políticamente correcto que siempre pretende la casa de Mickey.
Los Simpson también se han caracterizado por acertar en la vida real muchas situaciones que se vieron en sus episodios. Por ejemplo, en 1998, salió al aire un episodio llamado ‘When You Dish Upon a Star’, donde Homero casualmente se hacía amigo de personalidades como Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger y Ron Howard. En tal episodio, casi al final, se puede leer un cartel de 20th Century Fox, acompañado por la leyenda: una compañía de Walt Disney.
