En el Universo Cinematográfico Marvel, Tony Stark puede haber sido uno de los pocos en sobrevivir al chasquido de Thanos con apenas unos rasguños. Sin embargo, en el mundo de los cómics, el creador de Iron Man no ha tenido tan buena suerte en sus encuentros. Aunque parece que su futuro será muy distinto y hasta lo llevará a ocupar el puesto de Sorcerer Supreme.
Luego de que Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel, le diera un golpe prácticamente fatal durante los acontecimientos de Civil War II, Tony ha estado prácticamente ausente, en un estado de coma. No obstante, resulta que todo ha sido un truco del mismo Stark, pues el genio había estado manipulando su ADN para reconfigurarse en la eventualidad de que su vida se encontrara en riesgo. Lo único que necesitaba para volver a la normalidad como si nada hubiera pasado era tiempo y descanso. Incluso, Tony logró hacer lo mismo con su amigo James Rhodes.
Este renacer sucede en Invincible Iron Man #600, un número completamente narrado por la inteligencia artificial que Stark creó basada en sí mismo (con todo y su ego) para entrenar a su pupila Riri Williams hasta que adoptara el manto de Ironheart y continuara su labor. Lo que deben saber de este programa es que, se parece tanto a Tony, que puede hasta predecir con un importante grado de efectividad lo que hará su creador en circunstancias específicas.
Bueno, en el número Stark despierta, salva a su amigo y luego se dirige a vencer al nuevo equipo de Hood para recatar a su madre, que ha caído en las garras de los viejos amigos de su papá en Hydra. Sin embargo, lo interesante sucede al final, cuando el sistema que narra la historia dice saber lo que hará Tony a continuación.
Entonces, vemos una secuencia del viejo cómic All-New X-Men Annual #1, escrito por el autor de Iron Man, Brian Michael Bendis, en 2014. En esa trama, la mutante con poderes de manipulación del tiempo, Eva Bell, viajaba al año 2099 y conocía al Sorcerer Supreme de la época, una entidad llamada Magik. Por distintas circunstancias, la historia lleva a Bell a otros rumbos y la obliga a regresar al pasado antes de poder volver al 2099. Cuando regresa, todo está cambiado y Tony Stark es el nuevo Sorcerer Supreme. Ese hilo narrativo no se continúa en la historia original, pero si por la víspera se saca el día, es muy probable que esta trama sea lo que sigue para Iron Man.
Sólo el tiempo dirá si estamos en lo cierto o si apenas fue un interesante guiño a la historia de Eva Bell. En todo caso, ¿no creen que sería muy interesante ver a Stark haciendo magia? ¿Qué opinan?
