Sam vendría a ser la sucesora de Bigsby, un servicio que nunca tuvo el éxito esperado por Samsung.
Según reportes, Samsung apostó por el estudio de diseño Lightfarm Studios, compañía detrás de otras grandes marcas como GoPro, Ultra, y Fiat. Las imágenes presentan a Sam como un personaje 3D que parece salido de una película de Pixar, aunque ya algunos usuarios incluso hicieron fanart del personaje. Al ser una asistente de una marca surcoreana, no sería de extrañar que produzca una reacción similar a la de los idols propios de la cultura del país asiático. La marca ha apostado por posicionarse a través de la misma cultura pop y este personaje podría tener un muy buen recibimiento por parte de usuarios jóvenes.
Si bien varios asistentes de este tipo tienen una personalidad propia. Siri es astuta, Alexa hace chistes, la mayoría hace referencias a productos de la cultura pop como películas y música, pero hasta ahora ninguna de las compañías le habían diseñado un personaje en 3D a su IA.
