En negociaciones con Paramount, el actor y director debutante había aceptado la secuela, pero no quería dirigirla, sin embargo lograron convencerlo y ahora ha decidido volver a ese mundo post-apocalíptico. De hecho ha declarado que le dará más énfasis a ese mundo que a los personajes que aparecieron en la primera, a pesar de que Blunt repetirá.
