No obstante, hoy han llegado reportes cortesía de Variety que colocan a James McAvoy (X-Men, Split, Atonement) y a Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Trainwreck) en serias negociaciones para ser Bill y Richie respectivamente. Para evitar confusiones, no, Bill no interpretará a Bill. James interpretaría a Bill y Bill a Richie, pero no debe confundirse este Bill con Bill Skarsgard, quien fue Pennywise. ¿Ven? Para evitar confusiones.
El director Andy Muschietti estará también a la batuta de la próxima parte de la historia, mientras que Gary Dauberman escribirá el guión. Esta vez, el filme abarcaría la segunda mitad de la novela de Stephen King, en la cual los chicos que sobrevivieron al payaso diabólico la primera vez deben volver años después y revivir la tragedia para acabar finalmente con Pennywise. Bill Skarsgard se supone que repetirá su participación como el villano, y se ha hablado de que todos los chicos que salieron en la primera parte también repetirán sus roles.
